This is meant to help you and any interested producer envision what a movie or TV show of your book would look like — structure, pacing, scenes, dialogue. Whichever style you choose, it's a development draft, not a finished shooting script. Real producers always do significant rewrites during development, so don't sweat the details. Hollywood adaptation

A screenwriter's take: the story restructured for the screen, with new dialogue and subplots compressed to fit the runtime. Nothing is invented that your book doesn't support, but the words are the screenwriter's. Best for pitching a film or series.

Your own words

Your sentences become the narration, heard in voice-over, word for word, and the dialogue you wrote is used exactly. Only the scene directions are new. Best for memoirs and books with a strong narrative voice.

Dramatized

Your narration stays, and the conversations your book describes are acted out as scenes. Every new line restates something your book says, and each is checked against it. When the way you tell something is the joke, the narration still tells it.

With Your own words and Dramatized, the script follows your book's length: a shorter book makes a shorter script (never padded), and a longer one is trimmed using your own sentences. A TV pilot covers your book's opening chapters.
